If you have been trying to conceive for a little while and nothing is happening try this….

Bringing a child into the world is a beautiful journey, but for many, it can also be a journey filled with challenges. If you find yourself in the midst of trying to conceive without success, it can be incredibly frustrating and disheartening. However, before you lose hope remember we really can do so much ourselves to improve our fertility, consider trying these strategies to increase your chances of conception:

Understand Your Menstrual Cycle

Knowing your menstrual cycle inside and out is crucial when trying to conceive. Keep track of your menstrual cycle, noting the length and any irregularities. This can help you pinpoint your most fertile days.

Optimise Your Lifestyle

Take a close look at your lifestyle habits. Are you maintaining a healthy weight? Are you eating a balanced diet? Are you managing stress effectively? Making small changes like eating nutritious foods, exercising regularly, and practicing stress-reducing techniques like yoga or meditation can have a significant impact on your fertility.

Timing is Key

Understanding when you ovulate is essential for conception. Tracking your basal body temperature, cervical mucus, or using ovulation predictor kits can help you determine your most fertile days. Once you pinpoint this window, aim to have intercourse regularly during this time. If you have been trying for a little while I really recommend doing all 3 of these things, don’t put all you trust into an app to tell you when to have sex, tune into your body and look out for the signs.

Seek Professional Guidance

If you’ve been trying to conceive for a year (or six months if you’re over 35) without success, it may be time to work a fertility specialist. I can help! If needed I can advise tests to identify any underlying issues and provide personalised guidance and treatment options.

Consider Your Partner’s Health

Fertility isn’t just about the woman’s health; it also involves the man’s. Encourage your partner to adopt a healthy lifestyle, quit smoking, limit alcohol intake, and avoid hot tubs or saunas, which can negatively impact sperm health.

Don’t Forget to Enjoy Each Other

While trying to conceive can feel like a mission, it’s essential not to let it overshadow your relationship. Make time for intimacy without the pressure of conception. Remember, stress can inhibit fertility, so finding ways to relax and enjoy each other’s company is crucial.

Explore Alternative Therapies

Acupuncture, herbal supplements, and other alternative therapies have been reported by some couples to enhance fertility. While scientific evidence may be limited, many find these approaches beneficial in conjunction with conventional treatments.

Remember, every couple’s journey to conception is unique. While these strategies can increase your chances, it’s essential to remain patient and kind to yourself throughout the process. Seeking support from loved ones or joining a fertility support group can also provide comfort during this challenging time.

Stay positive, stay hopeful, and remember that you’re not alone on this journey.
